Well Melanie and I actually got to spend some time with each other this weekend which has been unusual lately because of my work. I even had drill this weekend, but for once it didn't seem to keep us apart.
Friday night Melanie and I went to the Military Intelligence Ball. This is always kind of a fun night because it is formal so Melanie got into her ball gown and I got in my "dress blues". The MI Ball was held at UVU in the ballroom. Dinner was served and then there was some entertainment provided by Comedy Sports (out of Provo), the entertainment was good. We left before the actual dancing began though (of course) because Melanie was tired and I had to get up early Saturday.
Saturday was governor's day, where the entire Utah National Guard assembles for the governor to review the troops, it is just a big long parade basically--not a lot of fun because there is a lot of standing. This year I was asked to do something instead so I didn't have the pleasure of standing for hours at attention. Anyway, as it worked out, there was one person too many for the other job I had so we were told one of us could go home. In a situation like this, he who hesitates, has to stay. No sooner than I heard one of us could leave, I jumped out of my seat and was out the door saying something like "see ya, suckas" --maybe that was just in my mind... Well I was home by eight o'clock in the morning and Melanie was just getting up so we got to spend the entire day together.
Saturday night we went to dinner with some good friends, the Toones. We went to downtown Salt Lake to P.F. Chang's. After dinner Melanie and I went over to the Gateway Mall to wander around. I love being downtown, I like big cities so any chance I get to wander around with lots of people nearby is great. At the mall we went to Fanzz, a great store 'cause they have lots of Yankee stuff. And guess what we found...Yankee baby clothes! I have already been looking online for some pink onesies but never actually ordered something for our baby girl. So when we found some Yankee baby clothes we had to get something so our baby girl can start out right. Unfortunately, there was no pink, but who says girls have to wear pink? Needless to say, our trip to Fanzz was the icing on the cake to a great weekend.

She's Growing
Me at 22 weeks! Here is a belly pic so you can all see how big I am getting. I am growing all the time and I hope that my little girl is keeping up with me. Just in the last couple of days I have noticed a big difference in my belly. So far so good - the docs all agree that we are right on track.
We did make some more adjustments on my pump last week and I have noticed a difference in how I feel. I am sleeping better and feeling better now that my sugar is a little more tightly controlled. It's amazing what a difference such little changes can make. I am still working at eating the right amount and not overdoing it - but somedays I am just so starving I can't take it. I will probably pay for that in the long run, but what can you do. A girl's gotta eat!

Let the Good Times Flow
I know there has been a lot of jealousy out there due to my diabetes. I mean, I am always getting to do the coolest things and have an entire shelf in my closet full of medical supplies - who wouldn't be jealous? This next little perk will take the cake. I now get the dubious honor of collecting my urine for 24 hours and then taking it to the hospital in that orange container you see below. I'm sorry, but don't they have better things to do with their time besides sort through 3/4 of a gallon of urine??? If that was my job, I would quit. As if this doesn't sound like the most fun you've ever had, we come to my favorite part. Go ahead and read #2 on the instruction sheet:

Baby Girl Summers
This is the latest picture we have of our little girl. She weighs 11 oz and is still quite uncooperative. I actually saw my stomach move the other day! I had Kelly put his hand on my stomach for about 15 minutes after that, but of course nothing happened. I can tell she is getting stronger and stronger. Soon Kelly will be able to feel all of her energy too. Despite the fact that this is a pretty good profile picture, I am still not sure who she is going to look like. We are officially past the half-way mark - I am 21 weeks today.

House Guests
We had my parents staying with us last week so they could attend Education Week. It was great to have them here and they were excellent guests. We ate some yummy food (lots of ice cream), spent some time visiting, and enjoyed the company. We did have a fun outing one night and we went out for pizza followed by attending an Owlz baseball game. This was the only day that I took a picture and I didn't even get a picture of them! Probably because they like having their picture taken about as much as I do. The game was fun, except for the old guy in the wheelchair that would yell out "Whoo, Whoo!" after anything happened or if there was a lull in the game. He was super annoying. Oh well, there's one in every crowd.
Thanks mom and dad for coming and staying with us. We had a great time and loved having you here. Feel free to come down anytime and we can all go eat some more ice cream Ü
