Holy Cannoli!

These little beauties are cannolis and man are they good. I have been wanting to have one for quite awhile now, so yesterday Kelly and I went to this little pizzeria in Provo and tried them out. All I can say is WOW! They were really good, in fact they were so good that I ignored the rest of the pizza when they arrived at our table and started on dessert. Dessert is not unusual for me, but not eating my dinner - along with everyone else's - before dessert, is. It was totally worth it Ü
I also want to mention that they had really good breadsticks and this yummy house dressing. If anyone lives in the area and is looking for something good to eat - I recommend stopping by Nicolitialia. It is just down the hill from the mall on University Parkway.
The only thing I knew about cannolis was that I laughed everytime Chris Farley said "Holy Cannoli" on SNL. Now that I know more, I can't stop thinking about them. I was considering making them, but now I know that I will definitely make them. I finally understand what people mean when they say Holy Cannoli!

Change Is In The Hair

So, this is a picture of my hair on Thursday morning. There was a ton of it and it was overtaking me. Although, I never see my hair from this angle it looks better than I had thought it would. Too bad! I was sick of it and needed a change. I was on the verge of using the scissors at my desk and cutting it off myself, when Katie asked me if I wanted to trade her appointments. That meant my cut would be moved up an entire week, so of course I agreed.

Now, this is what my hair looked like after the cut and style. Of course, my hair is totally unaccustomed to being styled, so just that made for a different look. Most people I ran into that day didn't even recognize me. However, I love my new cut. I just keep looking at it in the mirror and marvelling at how it actually looks like regular hair!

Here is the view from the front. I have been riding this wave of having someone else do my hair for 2 days now and am going to have to wash and "style" it myself. This is the part that makes me nervous. I think it looks good straight, but what happens when I let it be curly - with 5 inches of weight removed???? I am just hoping that I don't burst into "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow". At least it grows fast - we will just have to hope for the best Ü

Adoption Training

Melanie and I just spent Friday night and all day on Saturday attending mandatory adoption training. As many of you know, we were finally approved to be an adoptive couple in January 2009 and now we are just waiting to find a child to join our family. One of the things that was apparent to me during our weekend was we need to do more to be proactive in our search for our child.

During the training there were three panels; one with adopted children, one with adoptive parents and the third was birth mothers who already placed their children with families. I was impressed by the birth mothers and their stories of why they chose to place their children into another home. I was encouraged by the adopted children and how well adjusted they were. Adoption wasn’t a big deal to them; they didn’t feel any different because they were adopted.

Melanie and I were both encouraged by the adoption training and excited by the different things we thought we could do to be more proactive. Soon, we hope to have a separate blog for adoption and where birth mothers can see us and get to know our personalities a little better. We ask you, our friends and family to help us in our efforts to find birth mothers who are looking for potential families where they can place their child. It's the Tax Man

I finally finished our taxes Ü It has taken me long enough to get it done and it really didn't take long to do - I am just really good at procrastinating jobs that I don't want to do. I have made a goal to accomplish 2 such jobs in the month of March. It is only the 7th and I already have the taxes done and I have started the ginormous filing project that I have to do. Things are looking up! I find that my days are way more productive now that it is getting lighter. Plus, I am too sore from playing Wii sports to do much else besides sit at my computer and work.

I am loving the fact that daylight savings is tomorrow and that spring is practically here!

Melanie, My Snuggle Bug

I just wanted to express my appreciation for my wife, Melanie. I have such deep feelings for the woman I call wife. Melanie is the best thing that has happened to me. I am so grateful to her for putting up with my quirks and for supporting me in things I feel strongly about.



I have so much fun with Melanie; she really does have a lot of fun, and is also really creative. Sometimes I marvel at the ability she has to come up with the name for our Wii (Pii Wii) or some game for her Young Women to play. I appreciate being able to tell Melanie anything and she doesn’t judge me or jump to conclusions, she just accepts me for who I am.



I love my wife, I feel so much more complete with her by my side. I also am glad she is such a good example to me; never turning down a calling, reading the scriptures or having family home evening.



I love snuggling with you, thanks for always letting me curl up with you.

Are You Kidding Mii?

So, we finally gave in and bought a Wii. Of course, the idea was that we would be using the Wii Fit and getting in great shape. We do not currently have a Wii Fit, but have logged hours on it already. In fact, today Kelly got home from work a bit early and was going to be working on his math homework - you'll never guess what he did instead.

While driving home from work he was telling me all about the Mii Channel and all the cool things you could do on it. He then showed me all the Mii's on the Mii channel when I got home. Immediately after dinner he was back at it playing Wii Sports. Are you kidding Mii? That was all I could think. I am a little concerned that I might have to start taking the remotes with me to work so that he doesn't fail out of school.

I will admit that the cow racing game on Mii Play is quite fun. I do like playing the games, but as you can see I am still getting other things done. Poor Mii Ü
