Too Much In Love

This year for Valentine's Day Kelly and I did not plan some overly romantic date, rather I had to babysit on Friday night (YW fundraiser) and Kelly was supposed to work all day on Saturday. Awesome eh? When I came home from work on Friday night at 5:30, Kelly had bought me pretty white daisies with red carnations and was cooking me a yummy steak dinner. It was very delicious, but very brief because I had to be at the church by 6. Later that night when I was getting ready to climb into bed, I learned that Kelly did not have to work on Saturday! That was great news and we now had a whole new realm of possibilities of what we could do. Too bad for his coworkers though, because they missed out on some super good treats that I was going to take into work Ü

So, we didn't really accomplish a whole lot Saturday morning, but Kelly let me sleep almost until noon! That was the best present ever!!!! Then we needed to go and get our groceries and thought we would try and catch a movie. Our plan was to go to the theater, check out the movie times, get our tickets, then run errands if possible or run errands after. Pretty good plan. We pulled up to the theater and it was quite busy - you know being Valentine's Day and all. Kelly was driving and decided that he would pull up into the no parking zone and we could run in and get the tickets. We go in and surprising there is no line. We found out that The Pink Panther 2 was starting in 15 minutes and there were still plenty of seats left, so we decided to see it. We hustled into the movie and got good seats. The movie was funny - not as good as the first one - but we still laughed quite a bit. After the movie we made a quick escape out the fire exit that put us outside on the back of the theater. We were strolling along around the building and just about to come out of the breezeway to the front of the theater when the question runs through my head: "Where did we park?"

Just as we pop around the corner we see our car - still parked in the no parking zone! We just burst out laughing and couldn't believe that it hadn't been towed. Wow. Oh, and to top it all off, it was unlocked the entire time. We were laughing so hard we had tears streaming down our faces and Kelly almost crashed several times as we were exiting the parking lot because he couldn't see through the tears. By the time we got control of ourselves we both had a headache from laughing so hard and so long. Who would've thought that something like this would happen to us, AGAIN? There wasn't even a Sbarro's within 15 miles! Kelly mentioned that it was a good thing we didn't have a kid in the car, because that could have meant jail time.

I like to think that we are just so completely in love that we can't be bothered with the tasks of responsible adulthood, but frankly I am actually scared that we should be living in a group home Ü

The Jazz with Dad

Last night I got a last-minute invitation to go to the Jazz v. Celtics game with my dad. Dad got the tickets from Coke and they were awesome seats! Since dad had to wait for me to meet him, we got to the Energy Solutions Arena just a few minutes before tip-off but of course we had to go up to the buffet that was being served and partake of the delicious free food. We then took the elevator down to level one where we got off and walked over the the portal near our section. Of course we had to wait to go into the arena because the Jazz bear was coming back out off the floor and we had to wait for him to drive past us, I could have stuck my foot out and been run over by his Harley. Then we walked out onto the floor and across to our section. We sat on row 10, I have never been so close to the action! The game was fun, the Jazz played pretty good and beat the NBA champions by five points so I thought that was great.

The really great part was being able to go and do something with my dad, it is fun to hang out and talk about what's going on in each other's lives. I never was really into playing sports while growing up but I always really liked going to the different sporting events with my dad. I am really grateful for such a great dad who is always so concerned about his family. I don't think you could find a more self-less guy than my dad, he is always concerned about taking care of everyone else and doing the right thing.

Thanks Dad for being such a great example to me!

Home Office Decor

I have learned from working in many offices over the years that food has a lot to do with life in the office. Perhaps this is why I decided to decorate my home office with pictures of food.

Maybe I just have an unnatural obsession with food, who knows? Either way, I really like these pictures and what they add to our home office.

The only problem is that now I can't balance the checkbook without needing a snack. Go figure.

Happy Groundhog Day

Boy am I glad that January is over!!! It was kind of a boring month and I am looking forward to February in hopes of improvement. In honor of the the groundhog, who also gets a late start on the year, I have just started exercising again. I am hoping to get my fat butt in better shape and improve my health at the same time. I started with my inaugural workout on Saturday only to discover that I have a long road ahead of me. I am also quite stiff in some areas underneath my insulating layers. I would say that I am coupling my efforts with a committment to eat better, but we all know that would be an outright lie. I will never do that and I am not going to pretend. I will still make delicious, unhealthy treats in unhealthy quantities and eat them until I am sick. That is just who I am.

I would like to thank Bill Murray for his inspirational role that taught me that sooner or later I am going to have to get it right so I can move forward. So, here's to a fresh start and the dream of a thinner me.
