Happy Birthday to Me!

I love surprises, so I am always encouraging Kelly to surprise me. He is somewhat hesitant to do this because he is sure I will never like it. Well, for my birthday he picked me up from work and took me to an undisclosed location which turned out to be a hotel in Sandy. He had gone early and decorated the room with streamers and balloons. I was truly surprised and I loved it!

Next, he took me out to eat at the Texas Roadhouse and told me we had an appointment at 7. It was driving him crazy that I wasn't bugging him to tell me what the surprise was (that is what he would have been doing if the roles were switched). He took me to the Desert Star Theater to see American Fork Idol. I had never been there and it was pretty fun.

It was pretty packed and we got to see a couple get engaged. As a side note, guys why would you do this? I am not a fan of public engagements - I mean really, have an original thought! Also, I got to have some attention when they were announcing all the "special" guests that were having birthdays. I felt really good about my age when another lady was turning the same age as me and I thought she looked a good 10 years older than me.

It is always fun to get to spend some extra time with my husband. It was nice to get away for a night (Kelly got to miss his meeting) and be able to be together. I am so glad that Kelly decided to go for the surprise attack - it was a huge success!

These are the cute balloons I got - they also were cause for another unexpected surprise. At approximately 1:45 am these balloons flew free and were banging against the ceiling. We both woke up and Kelly resecured them to something. I decided it might be smart to go to the bathroom in case something like that were to happen again and I lost control of my bladder. Then, I got back in bed and stared at the ceiling for over 2 hours. I could not go back to sleep! I was so tired the next day, but I did get to go to bed at 9, so that helped a lot.

It's Melanie's happy happy birthday today so I wanted to wish her a happy day.

A Real Treat

I've heard many people say that it is not what you know, but who - and let me tell you - they are right! Saturday my boss was busy with his grandkids and wasn't able to use his awesome tickets for the real game and gave 2 of them to me. All I can say is WOW!

We were sitting right on the midfield line, on the front row, in leather seats. Not to mention we got to eat before the game, got free snacks and drinks at any point during the entire time we were there, got to eat again at half-time, and then got to eat again after the game with the team. Not quite the way we are used to attending the games, but not bad.

Kelly was really excited to be able to have a picture with Leo, but I was more excited for the picture below: Jason Kreiss and I just hanging out!

Now, if any of you have ever seen him play you know that he is awesome. He is not a big guy - I look like the stay puff marshmallow man next to him, but he is a really nice guy.

This is us just heading back out to our seats after our cushy half-time inside. We were all stocked up on popcorn, hot chocolate, and water and were heading back to our seats when we ran into our friend Leo.

This is a picture taken from my seat. We were right next to the field!! It was such a fun day and we even won 2-1 over the DC United. Unfortunately, we will have to get used to the nosebleed seats again, but at least we won't gain 100 lbs from eating all that free food Ü We had a great time and it made me feel like a little kid - we loved it!

A Look At The Old Plumbing

You know how a lot of times you see things that you wish you hadn't?? Well, this could be one of those situations for you, so if you didn't enjoy health class in school you should probably skip this post.
This is a picture of the 3 "little friends" that I had removed from my uterus on Friday. How fun is that? Really, that would have been fun in and of itself, but that is not where the good times ended. They only thought there was 1 to begin with, but found more when they got in there. I am glad that I do provide a hospitable environment for something to be growing.

This is where it got really exciting. I guess they figure once they have you unconcious and can do whatever they want, they should go exploring. They put a camera in my belly button, which only served to reaffirm what my mother has told me many times - never, never, never, EVER put anything in your belly button. It is just not a good idea. Plus, it makes your belly button hurt and you can't wear your jeans for a while.

I have always been fascinated with things like this, so that is why I am sharing all these photos of my insides. It is kind of interesting to see pictures of your insides - that way you know that those pictures from the health book were pretty accurate.

Needless to say, I am thrilled that I got to have these really cool pictures. I am certainly not endorsing putting ANYTHING in your belly button, but if you must have it done you may as well get something out of it.

This is my favorite picture and I am not sure why, but I just like it. Now that I have these for my scrapbook I am hoping that I will not have any further need for surgery in the future. Don't get me wrong - I love having 10 + people seeing me butt naked laying on a table, but I think once was enough. Also, the dress code was a little too breezy for me Ü

A Look At The New Plumbing

This is our new "lucky horseshoe" as I like to call it. It is a thing of beauty - at least to me. Kelly thinks it is an eyesore, but I love the meaning behind it. It means that we now have sprinklers! I am so looking forward to not having to drag the stupid hose around the stupid yard for the whole stupid summer.
Really, I didn't enjoy the hose dragging last year - I am not sure if you could tell. It was all I did when I was home all summer by myself and it wasn't fun. Not to mention, the grass was nearly dead most of the year despite my best efforts at watering.
Now, after some major digging, sweating, and shoveling (not on my part) I will be able to sleep while my yard is being watered. How great will that be! The guys that put our sprinklers in did a great job and you would never know by looking at our yard that it had just been dug up everywhere. They also fixed a major drainage problem we had on the back corner too.
The down side is that now that the watering won't be the main focus, we are actually going to have to get to some of those other yard projects we have been putting off. So much for my vacation from yardwork, but it will be so nice to actually get something besides dragging the hose done Ü

Perhaps this year we can do more with our garden and take care of weeds - who knows? I am thinking that Kelly will have a bunch of projects lined up to fill our now vacant time. So much for sipping lemonade on the porch....
