Today, Shelby and I received a special delivery. We got a box from Kelly! It is always fun to receive stuff in the mail - especially when it contains so many fun things. As always, Shelby wanted to be the first to open the box. I cut open the tape, and I might add there was A LOT of tape, even for my standards. Then I let her have a go at getting it open.

A Good Reason To Get Up
I am not a morning person. Sometimes I just lay in bed when I hear Shelby and wonder "if I stay here long enough, will she go back to sleep for a few more hours????" The answer is no, in case you were wondering. The good news is that she got her morning disposition from her Dad. Every day when I go in to get her up she smiles and is so happy to see me. I pick her up and she starts patting my back, giving me a hug. Then we go and eat some breakfast. It is a good thing that we eat breakfast first, then take a bath. She is in a phase right now where she only wants to eat toaster waffles for breakfast. I cut the waffle up into small bites and give it to her on a plate. It doesn't stay on the plate very long because she has to press the plate up against her face and look at me through the plate. Most days she picks up the plate and brings it directly to her face, which means that the butter and waffle crumbs are then smeared all over her face. She thinks this is hilarious and most days I do too.

Movin' On Down
I have been seeing a lot of this lately. Shelby is getting into all sorts of new things. I am now understanding why parents have to keep moving things higher and higher. All of the sudden, she won't stay out of the front room. The ottoman with the Ensigns on it is her favorite place to play. The magazines look like I have been eating them up, but it was really Shelby.
I took the liberty of lowering her crib mattress again. It cannot get any lower, so I don't know how much longer the crib will be able to contain her. The above picture is as low as it gets. What am I going to do when she figures out that she can climb out???? The best word I can use to describe Shelby is BUSY. Oh, and all this busyness has made her lose her cute chubby rolls. I tell her everyday that she has skinny-minny legs now. She just smiles and gives me a fake laugh. She is so full of personality that it kills me. Hopefully, by the time she has figured out the walking we will be able to play outside.

A Craftastic Month!
I kept myself real busy in January, working on a number of crafting projects. My pile is getting a lot smaller! One of the bigger things I worked on was learning how to knit in the round. I wanted to make Shelby some leg warmers and picked up a new skill in the process. This project was actually fun and led to another project.
I finally finished them a few days ago and Shelby wore them to the store to test them out. They do keep her legs much warmer, but they fall down sometimes. Heidi told me how to make leg warmers out of socks in about 20 minutes - I think we will try that next time. These took several weeks to knit.
