I have been quite busy using my homemaking skills lately. I don't know what has gotten into me! I sewed a set of curtains for our guest bedroom and I was surprised that they turned out just how I pictured them. I made up the pattern as I went, so that always leaves room for odd outcomes.
Also, I finally sewed my skirt! My mom and I picked out this material the day before Mother's Day. The best part is that it is a very comfortable fit with room to grow so I can wear it for the next few months (I hope).
I finally got around to crocheting some dishclothes for my kitchen sink. My old ones have seen better days and I decided to make some new ones. Hopefully, they will last a while and I chose the colors to match the colors the old one turned, so that it wouldn't look so dirty so quickly. As a side note - I will not be purchasing white dishclothes again.
I am glad to have a big dent made in my project pile. Perhaps now I can start making something cute for the baby!

Out In The Cold

Last weekend Kelly and I attended the Jon Schmidt concert up at Wolf Mountain with my parents. I was really looking forward to this concert because a) I like Jon Schmidt and b) it sounded like a great summer activity. We got to sit on the side of the slope and listen to the music. I, of course, packed a bunch of snacks so that we wouldn't go hungry. We brought along some chairs and blankets so we could be comfortable. The only problem was that we didn't bring along our winter clothes!
It has been rather hot here for the last several weekends and then the weekend that we have an outdoor activity planned - the temperature plummets. By the end of the concert, I was shivering. Had we only known that the temp on the hill would have been in the 50's we could have planned ahead and brought some thermal underwear. The concert was really good and we had a fun time, it was just a bit cold. I guess in Utah you can never count on anything when it comes to the weather. We will have to be sure to plan for all outcomes in the future and not just the one we are hoping for. Don't worry, we were almost thawed out by the time we got home!

Our Weekend in Park City

So, every once in a while there are great benefits from being involved in the military. One of these benefits gave us an opportunity to spend the weekend in Park City and attend a marriage seminar. While the seminar wasn't great, it was a minimal time investment and we got to do some really fun things while we were there.

For example, if you had a free room in Park City for the weekend where would you go to eat? Many would choose a fancy place that they don't get to frequent too often. Well, not us! We have a tradition that when we go to Park City we also go to Pizza Hut. They have a dine in Pizza Hut and we think it is fabulous. These dine in facilities are a dying breed, so we like to do our part by giving them some business each time we go there. We were not disappointed - the food was delicious!!

In case you might be thinking that pizza isn't the healthiest choice we could have made, you will rest easy knowing that we washed our pizza down with a big bowl of ice cream at the ice cream social which was the kick off to the seminar. I had the vanilla with hot fudge on it and it was good. One of the benefits to being pregnant is that no one questions you when you want to eat - they just give you whatever you want.
The next day we were done at like 2:30 and we planned on doing a little shopping. We headed to the outlet mall and boy did we shop. It was great that we had recently learned we are having a girl and that none of my clothes fit anymore. We made some purchases to benefit both of those situations. It was extremely busy at the outlet mall and we had to wait in line for like 10 minutes to get our Mrs. Fields cookie! In case I failed to mention this earlier - it was kind of a weekend off for us as far as eating well. We shopped for 3 hours and it nearly killed me. I have never been so tired after what seemed like such a manageable task. After shopping, we went back to our room and I almost cried when Kelly wanted to go walk up and down Main Street. I quickly put my pajamas on so there would be no question what was on my agenda.

We got up and had a couple hours of class on Sunday and then came home. It was really nice to spend some time away with Kelly and not really have to pay for much. We had a nice time and got some really great things. I now have like 5 pair of pants that fit me! Plus, cute things for the baby, of course. It was a great weekend and we might have even learned something at the seminar too.

The News Is Out

I had a doctor's appointment today and it took me by surprise. I went in expecting a sit down meeting with a diabetic educator and a perinatologist. Instead, I ended up having an ultrasound and finding out that I am having a girl!

I wish they had been a little more up front about what we would be doing and I would have had Kelly come to the appt. I guess I will be having an ultrasound every month so there will be plenty more, but it was so amazing to see everything going on in there. She is quite active and uncooperative already - she should be just like her mom. Kelly and I couldn't be happier and we are so excited to have a little girl join our family.

Happy Anniversary

Last week Kelly and I both had some time off. We had talked about a bunch of different things we could do, but in the end we didn't really do anything. Wednesday we mostly stayed at home. I did get some sewing done while Kelly worked on some homework. It was a pretty low key day. It was Bill's (Kelly's Dad) birthday so we had a BBQ at Library Park and I made a pan of cinnamon rolls for Bill because that was his request for his birthday treat.

Thursday, we tried to make up for our previous relaxing day by doing a ton of stuff. In the morning we moved furniture. We have been rearranging some of our rooms and we made a lot of progress. Then we had to hurry and get showered and dressed so we could get up to Ogden. We made some stops on our way up and made it there in plenty of time to visit with my Grandparents before our appointment. We met Jamie to go and get our pictures taken in "scenic" Peterson. I say scenic because Jamie has to be the worst navigator there ever was. We basically saw the whole city 3 times before finding the "canyony part with a road" that we were looking for. Needless to say, we saw a lot of scenery. We did finally get to where we were going and get some pictures taken. Hopefully, they will turn out, but you never know. We did get to have a bowl of delicious homemade vanilla bean ice cream at my parent's house while we watered their garden. Plus, we were starving after our photo session so we went to Iggy's and had some yummy food. Kelly loved their Chili Water sauce and dipped everything he ate in it. We also ended up bringing a bottle of it home. I think it stinks.

Friday, we did our weekly shopping. Honestly, I can't remember much about Friday and I asked Kelly what we did and he couldn't come up with anything either. It must have been a real exciting day. Oh yeah, I killed another black widow and this one exploded brown goo all over my garage floor and shoe. There was also a pile of dead spider carcasses that was not to be believed. This motivated us to schedule a trip to Home Depot for some poison.

Saturday, we got a new recliner and got rid of a dresser from our basement. We got some bug bombs to kill all the bugs in our garage and our dead black widow count is now at 3. We actually did some weeding in our garden. We went to the Bees game that night and watched the fireworks, which were very disappointing. The Bees got killed, but on a positive note I did get to eat a bunch of Cinnamon Roasted Almonds that were delicious!

It was a nice, relaxing time and it was great because we got to spend all our time together. We didn't take pictures (except the ones we had done) and we didn't have a whole lot going on, but it was so nice to spend time with my Kelly. We are going on a little trip this weekend, so maybe I will do a better job with the pictures Ü

I am so glad that I have been married to Kelly for 3 years now! I can't speak for him, but they have been great for me. I am one lucky girl.
