Hide And Seek Anyone?

This is Shelby's favorite new thing to do. She loves to roll to the edge of whatever blanket she is on and grab the corner. Then she proceeds to roll herself up in the blanket. She will just lay that way until I unroll her, then she is laying there with a big grin on her face. She is such a goofball.
Here she is working on her Cobra or Seal pose. She is quite intrigued by her cousin Elli's "Baby Shelby" because she talks and makes all sorts of noises. The first time Shelby heard this she was talking back to the doll, now she just pushes herself up really high and looks at the doll.

This is Shelby's new shirt. Oh wait, it is not a shirt at all. This is a dress that she was wearing just a few weeks ago and now can only be worn as a shirt. This is her recycled outfit because I had to unhem the pants too. They were rolled twice and stitched that way, but once I undid the stitching they unrolled to a more acceptable length. This girl is just growing like crazy!

Blueberry Syrup

Since I have so much spare time between Shelby's bedtime and whenever she wakes up in the morning, I decided that it would be a great idea to make some homemade Blueberry Syrup! This is a picture of the sweet juicer that I just inherited from my Grandma. She was moving and I got tons of great stuff from her. This reminds me of when I was a kid and I would "help" my mom make jelly.

Anyone who knows Kelly probably knows that he LOVES blueberries. I must admit that until I met Kelly I had never really eaten a great deal of fresh blueberries. That has changed a lot. Kelly will eat blueberries in practically anything! I thought it might be fun to have some blueberry syrup and the blueberries at Costco were on for a great price, so I bought some and got to work.
I actually finished this project about a week and a half ago and the great news is that the syrup tastes delicious. Kelly gave it 2 thumbs up and it went very well with our blueberry pancakes. The bad news is that I feel the syrup is still a work in progress. I wasn't happy with the consistency of the syrup and plan on making some additional flavors of syrup to see if I can't get it the way I want it. For now, I am quite pleased with my new juicer and the good fortune of having all my jars seal properly Ü

The Best Weekend

We had such a great weekend! We didn't really do anything too exciting, but we just got to spend the weekend together as a family. I love my cute little family so much and I enjoyed every minute we had. It was so fun for me to see Kelly and Shelby having so much fun with each other. My heart aches when I think of them being apart. Unfortunately, we're back to the grindstone tomorrow morning. As a side note, if you happen to think that eating 7 oatmeal chocolate chip cookies in one sitting will make you feel good, trust me - it won't. I am glad that today is pretty much over because I am spent.

We're So Close

We have been putting in some serious practice time on this sitting up business and we are getting really close to having it down. Some days Shelby is really good at it - like in the picture. That night she sat up and played with her keys for like 60 seconds straight. The next day she didn't even last 2 seconds all day. We are trying to develop some of these special skills to show Dad, but someone is not being very cooperative. I am sure once she figures these things out and begins to be more mobile, I will wish she wasn't. She has already started doing things that she knows she isn't supposed to do just so she can see what I will do about it. Unfortunately, this reminds me a lot of a certain home movie of me as a child. Let me just say - I am in for it!

New Jammies

Shelby is growing like a weed! I swear she gets taller by the day and is seriously getting too tall for her clothes. I have even seen some difference in her pants not just her onesies, so you know this is serious. Being the great mother that I am and a lover of all things pajamas, I decided to get her all stocked up on some new jammies. I suppose she may need some actual clothes to go with all of these cute pjs, but this way at least we will match when I wear my pajamas all day Ü Some of these are 12 monthers and have little grippies on the feet - a little frightening to think that she may be walking soon. I am really not too worried seeing as we are still mastering the art of sitting, but you never know - it could happen. I think Shelby is so cute and I love trying on all of her new jammies!
