London Baby!

We were very fortunate that the day we had planned to go to London was a day that Justin didn't have to work, but wasn't allowed to travel too far from home. We talked him into tending Jack and Elli all day while we went off to play.
We decided to catch the train in Ely and head to London from there. It wasn't too far from Karissa's house, but when we arrived at the train station we had a hard time finding a parking place. There was a grocery store adjacent to the station, but they had a fine of 70 pounds for parking there longer than 3 hours. That equalled out to almost $120, so we had to find something else. By this point we had our tickets, but missed the train we were planning on taking. We decided to head to the free parking lot up near the cathedral and walk back to the station. Karissa didn't think we could make the next train, but I was sure we could do it. We parked the car and started booking it back to the station. We arrived in about 20 minutes which gave us plenty of time to make the train that was due 30 minutes from the one we missed. The only problem was that there was no train in 30 minutes. Apparently, we missed the busier time of the day and had to sit at the station for about 35 minutes until the next train arrived.

Once we made it to London, about an hour later, we decided to have some lunch and a potty break before we started our double decker bus tour. It was quite warm in the city and the traffic and congestion were insane. Don't forget it was only about 10 days before the royal wedding. Add to that the high temp, it was about 80 plus humidity of like 120%, and it was a smashingly delightful time. They called it the first day of summer - buses were breaking down and some of us were melting. Shelby ended up spending most of the day in her onesie only. Once we got on the bus and got going, things seemed to settle down a little.

This picture was taken at the start of our tour. Shelby did pretty well, but she did not like having to be confined on the bus for so long. I think we were on the bus for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. She did end up taking a nap during the tour and she was just a sweaty ball when she woke up. All her hair was matted down to her head and wet. Although it was easier to get some pictures when I wasn't having to wrestle her at the same time.
This picture was closer to the end of our tour. We had planned on riding the bus for the complete tour and then if there was something we wanted to see further we could get off and explore. The tour took longer than expected due to traffic and we made it back to the metro just in time to catch the last available train home. It was a crazy, hot day, but we got to see lots of neat things. We crowded onto the train and headed home. I took a ton of pictures and will post them in groups. Hopefully, I can remember what everything was - it was a jam packed tour.
